MY NAME IS PRINCE

No Comments 55Factory, my words, news, review, sara darling

If you need a fix of the infamous purple one, you will be spoilt for choice this winter with two very different exhibitions showcasing in London.

I was blown away by the actual size of Mr Nelson’s stage costumes which are presented in all their glory at the #MyNameIsPrince exhibition at the 02…. He managed big guitars, big hair and big heels, but boy his waist was tiny!

No Comments 55Factory, art, lifestyle, my words, news, review, travel

The annual Amsterdam Light Festival is taking place from 30 November – 16 January and it is the perfect excuse to sup a mulled wine, whilst cruising down the canals admiring the neon artwork, which this year, includes statement pieces by world-renowned artist and activist Ai Weiwei.

IS IT A PONY OR IS IT A BIKE?

No Comments 55Factory, fblogger, lifestyle, my words, sara darling

The Slovenians are a very cool nation! And after visiting MBFWLJ, I can see that they are very trendy too……

So it’s no wonder that they have fused two of their talents in a fashion-bike hybrid.

The humble Pony brand of bikes has been two wheels of choice or more than 65 years in Eastern Europe, and the affectionately named Rog’s bikes are the flagship of Slovenian cycling tradition, so check out my report on 55Factory to see their latest collaboration….

SUPERDRY JACKETS ARE MADE TO LAST

Alas the girls don’t get the Idris Elba touch, but I have personally fallen in love with this season’s peacoat.

SHOES AND EDGY LEATHER ALWAYS MAKE ME HAPPY!

So when the latest concept store was announced for London’s South Molton Street, I was keen to find out more. Being familiar with the designers from Ganor Dominic and Pritch London, I knew that they would pull out all the stops for something fabulous, and Arthouse41 on 41 South Molton Street doesn’t disappoint.

SUNTAN THE GREEK MOVIE WAY

Comments Off on SUNTAN THE GREEK MOVIE WAY 55Factory, film, lifestyle, my words, review, sara darling

A GREEK SUNTAN IS TOO MUCH FOR SOME!

If someone was to tell me that there would be a Greek movie about a middle aged doctor who falls in love with a student twenty years his junior, and things go wrong- I would think that sounded about right..but there is nothing right about the storyline of this film.

Uncomfortable, funny and just a little bit odd in equal measures. If you’re a fan of indie films, you’ll probably like this!

I reviewed director Argyris Papadimitropoulos’s ‘Suntan’ for 55Factory. Read more here

THE LITTLE BOOK OF BLACK FOR FANS OF THE DARK SIDE

Comments Off on THE LITTLE BOOK OF BLACK FOR FANS OF THE DARK SIDE 55Factory, art, my words, news, review, sara darling

THE LITTLE BOOK OF BLACK

is a book which is little, and full of beautiful black things. Particularly art, and popular culture. Compiled by art critic, author and journalist Faye Dowling, I was impressed, and not depressed at all!

I reviewed it for 55Factory. Check it out here

LEGENDS OF THE SANDBAR on your coffee table

Legends of the Sandbar by Christopher Bickford

If you ever needed an excuse to learn how to surf, this coffee table book is it! However, this is not just a picture book- even though it contains some of the most stunning images of surf culture that I have seen.

Photographer and author Christopher Bickford, has made a home for himself in the sleepy Outer Banks in North Carolina, and uses it as a base to surf, write and collect documentary images. His book Legends of the Sandbar is an insider’s view of life on the Banks.
