AW16 Style for 55Pages

No Comments 55Factory, fashion, fblogger, my words

It’s fab being Fashion Editor as I can creatively direct the shoots as well as style them! So it’s no surprise I loved the latest shoot I did for 55Pages with an oriental theme.

Kimonos and collar bones and floor length dresses were mashed up with headpieces, statement belts and some serious attitude. It was great working with the Dream Team Julie Cooper MUA, Marlene Andersson on hair and of course Christopher Sims photographer… Check out some BTS sneaky peeks…

And cast your eyes over issue ten which is out now! 55Pages magazine – five years and still going strong!

Festivals are well and truly in the air, and there is no place better for a music shindig than in Brighton (or Hove).

So I am very excited to be heading to a festival on my doorstep on May bank holiday Sunday. The perfect opportunity for an all day dance off from those fine folk who run the Club Tropicana nights in the city.

Even more exciting is getting to see Norman Jay MBE doing his funky thing up close and personal, and not have to fight the masses of Carnival to get a groove on to his eclectic tunes; Along with a live performance from cult funksters Soul II Soul you can tantatalise your earbuds with the cream of DJs from the best Brighton collectives including Robert Luis from Tru Thoughts label who discovered artists including Quantic, Bonobo, Alice Russell or Rodney P…Soul Casserole will be on the northern soul, rare funk, motown and hip hop mash-up tip, with The Jazz Club’s Russ Dewberry playing Latin, disco funk. With the Outdoor Stage and the Club Tropicana Tent, you can mix and match as the mood takes you!

With an eclectic selection of jazz, jungle, funk, bass, tropical, hip hop and reggae on offer, along with cocktail bars, international food and (fingers crossed) sunshine, that is my Sunday sorted. But even if it does rain, I won’t have far to stumble home…After the after party and making lots of new friends of course! (It is Brighton after all…)

For the love of Italy

No Comments 55Factory, fashion, my words, news, review

Italy comes to London for another summer pop up of fabulousness courtesy of House of Peroni..

“If you thought East London was already fashionable, it’s about to get even more respect from the cool cats with endorsement from the Italian Missoni family dynasty. Famous for their unique knits and patterns, the label was founded in 1953 and is still going strong. This summer, if you can’t hop over to the Med, you can sup a Negroni amongst London’s finest and celebrate the best of Italy at The House of Peroni pop up in Haggerston…”

Paradise in Ibiza

No Comments blogger, travel

It’s always a bit risky to head to a holiday destination at the start of season. Bars are opening in dribs and drabs, you can’t guarantee the weather and you know that the resorts will be full of Brits, who like you are taking advantage of the kids still being in school.

However, my last trip to Ibiza was my most pleasant yet. Not strictly choosing off season, it was more of a grab a week while you can (freelancer rules) but the weather forecast was pretty well behaved! It’s not just a prty island, and I enjoyed a very relaxing, chilled time with the boyf. There is traditional Spanish food to be found even in the resorts, and Cava flows by the bucket load! But it’s worth exploring some of the off the radar beaches too- and don’t forget the infamous hippy market (est 1973 and still going strong!) It was the perfect escape for reading, swimming in the crystal blue sea, and swimming pool if I couldn’t be bothered to make it to the beach, and lounging on sun beds in all day sun listening to a chill out DJ.,,

I can see an Ibiza addiction coming on, especially with the stunning Amante Beach Club in Cala Llunga, hidden gem of The Chiringuito restaurant and beach bar in Cala Nova and the subtle celeb spotting at the Jacaranda. It almost makes the queue for EasyJet bearable…
