Iconic films to tickle your tastebuds heading to an open space near you

jaws_nomadcinema_saradarling

It’s nearly time for bank holiday season, and that officially means, pasty legs, barbeques and flip flops…It also means the start of lots of fabulous pop up events around the fabulous green spaces in London. I’m a particular fan of outdoor screenings. There’s something so romantic about watching Jaws in a cemetary!

It was also a delight to get a sneaky peek of The Lookout in Hyde Park last week- an eco event space with decking, seating and sculptures which is also one of the homes to the roaming NOMAD cinema (that gives all it’s proceeds to the Sustainable Institute in South Africa). So while you’re having a whale of a time, you can rest assured you are doing a good deed for our friends across the world too!

What could make a better night out? Especially if you want to impress a date…..British summer in the city starts here.

With so many cool locations popping up all the time, it’s best to check the main website for tickets and availability. But I have earmarked at least 3 of the June films, so maybe see you there!

Organic beauty products which are bound to put you in a SUPERMOOD

No Comments bblogger, lblogger, my words, review, spa

Cosmetics from Finland which are made with love

It was as though the beauty fairies have been watching me sleep, as the arrival of the beautiful SUPERMOOD gift box landed on my doorstep at a particularly rocky week. Overtired and overworked, my skin was crying out for a bit of attention, so the beautiful packaging of the SUPERMOOD products including Ego Boost One Minute Facelift Serum, Youth Glo Babyface Mask and Beauty Sleep Absolute Bliss Serum, sounded like they were just what the doctor ordered.

To be honest, I wouldn’t necessarily order beauty products from the internet, especially not a different country, as I like to touch and smell the products before I slop them on my skin… but the rave reviews about SUPERMOOD and it’s origins persuaded me to give them a try. Founded by ex-model Anne Kukkohovi, (who also hosted Finland’s Next Top Model and is a complete babe!) the small but perfectly formed range is completely holistic, and is made in Finland from natural ingredients.

I began my treats with the Beauty Sleep Absolute Bliss Serum as bad sleep is the root of all my problems (and I have left my previously blogged miracle Therapearl eye patches at the boyfs).. The subtle scent of sea fennel was not only calming, but contains such a high percentage of antioxidants that the collagen that gives you stretchy skin is protected, and I woke up feeling fresh, plumed and even a little bit rejuvenated, which is always a good sign for a hectic Monday!

With my new revived skin, I was keen to see how I fared with the Ego Boost One Minute Facelift Serum..I had lots to do, so liked the idea of having an ego boost. Easy to apply and non sticky I undertook my daily beauty routine religiously, and after only a couple of days, I could feel my skin tightening- and I can safely say this the closest thing I have come across to a facelift without visiting a clinic! Talk about an ego boost, I was ready to take on the world!

Finally I got round to try the Youth Glo Babyface Mask- I almost didn’t want to as I was so happy with my sparkly visage, and didn’t want to mess it up! But I’m glad I did. The facemask was a delicious combination of pampering and smelling like a baby’s (clean) bum. Taking time out to relax for a good 20 minutes (fear not, you don’t have to do any longer as the mask doesn’t actually set)..and bingo! I was as squeaky clean, refreshed and firm. It’s only a shame I tried it on a night in- next time, I will definitley use it as a base for radiant skin before a night out.

For an almost unbelievable luxury experience for a very pocket friendly price, I would definitely recommend checking out the whole range from SUPERMOOD. I think adopting this philosophy is the way forward, and who doesn’t need a bit of help in the fabulous mood department?

Home from home in a central London hotel.

And it’s only a stones throw from Buckingham Palace! It goes to show you don’t need a restaurant when your room has a mini kitchen and Nespresso machine, and there are first class restaurants on your doorstep.

This is the new wave of  luxury boutique hotels which is mightly convenient….

Look no further for great food, prison cells and the best night’s sleep in London

I was eagerly awaiting my visit to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Blackfriars, not only for the champagne and cigar bar (I don’t do cigars!) but for the taster menus in all the three of their restaurants.

Most luxury hotels are able to provide finger licking food in at least one or two on site restaurants, but due to popular demand, and the prime location in London’s Square Mile, the CP Blackfriars has three dynamic dining rooms. With the award-winning Italian restaurant, Diciannove which is so authentic, you will be ciao ciao-ing with the waiters in no time- the perfect place for romance, or for those who love to linger over plates of delicious pasta, bread and a good red.

cricket_club_diaryofafashiondarling

The Sichuan inspired Chinese Cricket Club, is on a different level (literally),  and has a wide selection of mouth-watering regional and dim sum specialities- with names that I have never heard of, I can confirm it has a great view. A proper restaurant in it’s own right, you won’t be rubbing shoulders with suits dining alone, looking furtively at their phones awaiting super important business calls! It is a thoroughly relaxing, almost zen experience, which is a godsend in central London!

However, if you are looking for a quick fix, and need somewhere for a meeting, burger, cocktails or afternoon tea, the Lobby Lounge is the ideal choice and super accommodating for parties of all numbers. Comfortable, intimate and friendly, there is something for everyone and you can linger as long as you like.

crowneplaza_diaryofafashiondarling

After your taste buds have been tickled, it is well worth a visit to the Voltaire Bar  for a cocktail or two; If you want to impress book one of the super quirky, grade II-listed vaults which double as heated private dens for parties and couples alike. With a cocktail, champagne and cigar menu, waiters will serve you in one of King Henry VIII’s royal Bridewell Palace come prison come bank vaults, and you can groove to your own choice of tunes on the sound system.

crowneplaza_diaryofafashiondarling

With a full belly and intoxicated mind, the good folk at Crowne Plaza offer the icing on the proverbial cake when you are ready to retire. In every one of their 204 luxury rooms, you can get the perfect night’s sleep by using the ingenious addition of This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray and Deep Sleep Stress Less, mini kit. A simple waft on your pillow and swish across your temples turned me into a sleeping baby. And it had nothing to do with the copious amount of cocktails. Honest!!

My diary….

No Comments fashion, fblogger, my words, Stylist

I might have been a little quiet on the diary front over the last few weeks, but that is because I have been busy being a Fashion Darling!

It has been a very sociable time what with press days, launches and a some memorable parties! So please excuse my tardiness!

Firstly I would like to thank Timex for their super spangly soiree at Shoreditch House- it involved fancy dress, photo booth, cocktail shaking and lots of dancing. Plus some very sore heads in the morning! But what a night, and thanks a mill for the gorgeous watch.

I also went along to help the ultimate flip flop- Havaianas celebrate at the Soho Sanctum. Another rooftop affair with a Brazilian theme, showcasing the extensive SS16 collection. More than flip flops, there is now a great range of sandals, espadrilles, beach bags and even a wedding range! Oh to get married on the beach…The Brazillian snacks went down a treat too, although I managed to refrain from the mojitos! For any fact fans out there, they are 54 years young!

Keeping the summer theme well and truly in the air, I  made my way to look at the Silk Fred collection, and get a cheeky pedicure at the Hoxton Holborn. With a totally Ibiza vibe, the laid back styles were big on crochet, denim and some stunning bikinis. Not sure how the tan lines would fare, but who cares! And as it happens, I am Ibiza bound, so I see a spot of spoiling on the horizon!

So the weeks are filling up with all my favourite PR press days, and I am getting excited to shoot the AW16 collections- it’s a wibbly wobbly seasonal world this fashion biz!

Are these the BEST products ever for sparkly eyes??

No Comments bblogger, my words, review, spa

I love trying new beauty products. Especially when they involve something that could potentially improve the quality of my life!!!

So when I discovered the TheraPearl range for tired eyes, I knew I had to investigate a little further….

I am someone who admittedly burns the candle at both of it’s proverbial ends. I socialize and I get up to go to pump class. However much my body can take it, my poor eyeballs have been sending out SOS signals for a few months now. Coupled with my job as a freelance writer and stylist, which involves hours on the laptop/ipad and smart phone, I have been feeling the burn in the visage department.

So I was somewhat keen to get my paws on the TheraPearl eye essential mask. Providing a hot or cold treatment, this mask is designed for relief of red puffy eyes, and my bug bear, the dry eye.

Therapearl eye mask_Diary of a fashion darling

I was however a little apprehensive about putting something hot on my delicate eyeballs, but with the easy to follow instructions, I erred on the side of caution, and undercooked the mask in the microwave at the first attempt. (Meaning I checked it after five seconds instead of the recommended 10-15). Once I was sure it wasn’t going to burn my face off, I was happy to attach lie back and relax. A mere 20 minutes will not only reduce redness in your throbbing eyeballs, but decrease any excessive blood flow around the delicate eye area, thus potentially minimizing the unavoidable dark circles that come with late nights! I might need a few more tries before I see this result, but I am well on my way to an addiction! I wore it to bed on day number two, and it’s just as soothing cold. And for fact fans, you can even freeze it and apply in the same way so the teeny tiny balls of goodness address any migrane pains. Magic!

Coupled with Bausch + Lomb Bio True Rewetting Eye Drops, I feel like a new woman! Another product that is a must have for any laptop lover who suffers from dry, tired or irritated eyes. It provides instant natural hydration, in a simple easy to use pump. Kind of like diesel for your hardworking eyeballs, even if you wear contact lenses, and you can indulge as often as you like.

Shame it won’t protect me from some of the emails I get sent, but it will make reading them a lot easier to swallow!

Two shoots and a hotel review!

No Comments 55Factory, flush magazine, menswear fashion styling, my words

What a week!!!

Two shoots, two accepted pitches and the cover shoot for 55Pages! Woweee.

It was great to mix up my shoots- just what’s needed to keep me on my toes! First was a commercial for The Cartoon Network, so I was buying, begging and customising! And the second shoot was an ten page menswear shoot with a modern military theme. Juggling seems to suit me!

And this was mashed up with a hotel review for the Nadler in Victoria for Flush magazine..Coming soon…And about a zillion press days!

Oh and  check out my first feature on Unmissable. I do get about!
